About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Dreamfire AB ("we", "us"), a Swedish limited company (org.nr 559539-8297, Rådmansgatan 80A, 113 60 Stockholm, Sweden) and the maker of Rust On Top. They cover the Rust On Top desktop app, the rustontop.com website and your account there, the ROT Pro subscription and team seats, the Rust On Top Discord bot, the ROT Raid Alarm phone app, and the console at console.rustontop.com. By installing an app, using the website or the console, adding the bot, or subscribing, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
They are written in plain language. Words like "AS IS" appear because the law expects them.
What Rust On Top is
Rust On Top is an unofficial companion for the game Rust. The desktop app shows you your server, your team, your deaths and your base, and helps with things like decay timers and raid costs. The website is where you download the app, sign in with Steam, manage your subscription and connect Discord. The Discord bot posts your team's feeds to a Discord server and answers the same commands you can type in the game's team chat. The phone app rings when a paired smart alarm fires. The console is a tool for people who run Rust servers.
On a server that runs our RotLink plugin the app's data comes from that server. On any other server it comes over Facepunch's Rust+ protocol, the same one their Rust+ mobile app uses, through a connection our servers hold on your behalf.

Rust On Top is an independent project. It is not made by, affiliated with, authorised, sponsored or endorsed by Facepunch Studios Ltd, Valve Corporation, or any server operator.
"Rust" and "Rust+" are trademarks of Facepunch Studios, used here only to identify the game the product works with.
Why this is a companion tool, not a cheat
We built Rust On Top to behave like a legitimate companion app. It does none of the things that get tools banned: no reading or injecting the game's memory, no hooking into the game or its graphics, no DLL injection, no input automation or macros (it never moves, aims, builds, loots or clicks for you), and no attempt to bypass or evade anti-cheat.
Everything the app shows comes from one of four places: (1) Facepunch's Rust+ protocol, the same one their Rust+ app uses; (2) our own servers, for servers that run the RotLink plugin; (3) files already on your own computer, such as item icons and, with your switch on, the game's map files; and (4) what is already on your own screen, the death screen, read from a capture of your display with your switch on. The app reads the game's own log only when you press Send diagnostics, and never touches the running game.
Chat you send through the app or the bot goes through the game's own team chat, on a RotLink server through the plugin and elsewhere through the Rust+ protocol.
The rule that shapes every feature: the app shows you nothing about other players on a server that you could not already see by playing there.
Game bans and account actions
Used as intended, Rust On Top does not get you game-banned. The app never touches the running game: no memory reading, no injection, no hooks, no input automation. From the game's point of view, using Rust On Top is the same as using Facepunch's official Rust+ mobile app. Anti-cheat has nothing to detect, because nothing runs inside or against the game.
Individual community servers set their own rules, and a few restrict or forbid companion tools. Check the rules of the servers you play on; if a server bans you for using a companion tool, that is between you and that server.
We cannot control or predict the decisions of companies and people we do not run: Facepunch, Easy Anti-Cheat, Valve, Steam, or any server operator. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any in-game ban, server ban, kick, mute, anti-cheat or VAC ban, Steam suspension, restriction, loss of access, loss of items or progress, or any other action taken against your account while or after using Rust On Top.
Your account
You sign in with your Steam account, on Steam's own pages. We never see your Steam password. Your Rust On Top account is your Steam ID.
You are responsible for what happens through your account, so keep your Steam account secure and tell us promptly if you believe someone else is using it. We may suspend an account to protect it or to protect the service.
ROT Pro subscriptions
ROT Pro is a paid subscription that unlocks the full desktop app and the features that rest on it. The plans, the price, the currency, any taxes and the free trial are shown at checkout before you commit. Prices on our pages are in US dollars; Stripe may show and charge the equivalent in your own currency. Stripe processes the payments made on the website. A subscription bought in the phone app is billed by Apple or Google instead (see below).
Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly plans each month and yearly plans each year, with the charge taken at the start of each period, until you cancel. Your subscription is tied to your Steam account and may not be resold or transferred.
Free trial
A new account gets a free trial once, on its first checkout; its length (seven days at the time of writing) and the price after it are shown before you start. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing. If you do not cancel, the trial becomes a paid subscription when it ends.
A trial is offered once per account. We may limit, withdraw or refuse a trial where it is abused, for example repeated trials for the same person.
Team seats
A ROT Pro owner can buy team seats on the same subscription and give each seat to a teammate by Steam ID. A seat holder counts as ROT Pro while the owner's subscription runs; when it lapses, every seat under it stops. The owner can take a seat back at any time and give it to someone else. Adding seats in the middle of a period is charged at once for the time left in the period; a seat removed stops being charged from the next renewal. A seat cannot be given to yourself or to a player already seated on another subscription.
Cancelling your subscription
You can cancel at any time from your account page (Manage billing opens the Stripe billing portal) or by emailing us at the addresses below. A subscription bought in the phone app is cancelled in the App Store or Google Play.
Cancelling takes effect at the end of the trial or of the period you have paid for: you keep ROT Pro until then, and we charge you nothing further. Except as described in our Refund Policy or required by law, we do not refund the remainder of a running period.
Subscriptions bought in the phone app
In the ROT Raid Alarm app, ROT Pro is sold through the App Store and Google Play. Apple or Google takes the payment and shows the price in your currency before you confirm. The subscription belongs to the Steam account you are signed in with and works everywhere ROT Pro does, the desktop app included.
It renews automatically each month or year until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings or in Google Play; the app's account page links there. On the App Store, cancel at least 24 hours before the period or free trial ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel it.
Free trials and refunds follow Apple's and Google's rules. For the App Store, ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, ask Google within 48 hours of the charge; after that, contact us and we can refund through Google Play where our Refund Policy allows. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's standard licence terms for apps also apply.
On a new phone or after a reinstall, sign in with the same Steam account and tap Restore purchases. Restoring while signed in with another Steam account moves the subscription to that account.
Refunds and your right of withdrawal
ROT Pro is a digital service with instant access, so payments already made are final as a rule, though we read and answer every refund request. Our Refund Policy has the details, including the 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU/EEA and the UK on their first subscription.
At checkout you expressly request that ROT Pro start immediately rather than after the 14-day withdrawal period, and you acknowledge that if you withdraw, you pay a proportionate amount for the time already supplied. Stripe records that consent with your checkout. Nothing in these terms limits any refund or remedy you are entitled to under mandatory consumer law.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. If a change affects you, we tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and it applies from your next renewal. If you do not agree with the new price, cancel before the renewal and we will not charge it.
Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it and may ask you to update your payment method. While a payment is past due, ROT Pro is switched off for the account and for every seat under it, and comes back the moment Stripe settles the payment. We may cancel a subscription whose payment keeps failing.
Discord subscriber role and the bot
If you connect your Discord account, our bot gives you the ROT Pro role on the Rust On Top Discord server while your subscription is active and removes it when the subscription ends. The role is a perk on top of the paid service: our Discord server has its own rules, and we may change or discontinue the perk.
The Rust On Top bot can be added to a Discord server by someone with the Manage Server permission there who has ROT Pro. It follows one Rust server per Discord server and posts only to the channel it was pointed at. What it posts about a team is what that team could see in the game. The bot is paused when the installer's ROT Pro ends and resumes when it returns. We may remove the bot from a server that uses it to harass, spam or break Discord's rules.
The console, for server operators
The console lets a server operator link their Rust server to Rust On Top, run commands on it, and see what happens on it. By adding a server you confirm that you are entitled to administer it, and you are responsible for the RCON password, the operators you invite and the commands they run. Every command is logged with who ran it.
The game record the RotLink plugin keeps for your server is yours: you are its controller and we process it for you, to run the console and its moderation tools. By linking a server you also permit Rust On Top to show players on that server the part of that record that concerns their own team, under the rule that a player sees nothing they could not already see in the game. Our Privacy Policy says what is kept and for how long. A written data processing agreement is available on request.
The RotLink plugin is licensed to you for use on the servers you administer, in line with these terms and Facepunch's own rules for server plugins. You may not modify it to collect what it does not collect.
Your licence to use the apps
We grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited licence to install and use the Rust On Top desktop app and the ROT Raid Alarm phone app on devices you own, for your own personal use, in line with these terms.
We keep all intellectual property rights in the apps, the plugin, the bot, the console and the website.
Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) reverse engineer, decompile or modify the apps, the plugin or the bot except where the law allows; (b) copy, redistribute, rent, resell or commercially exploit the apps, the plugin or your subscription; (c) use them for any unlawful purpose or to break the rules or terms of any Rust server, Facepunch, Steam, Discord or any third party; (d) share your sign-in, your Rust+ tokens or your account with others; (e) attempt to disrupt, attack or gain unauthorised access to the apps, the website, the console, the bot or our systems; (f) circumvent or attempt to circumvent subscription checks, free trials, seats or promotional offers; or (g) add a server to the console that you are not entitled to administer.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data on the website, in the console, at checkout, in the apps and through the bot, including the death screen strip read by Google Gemini and the map file the app may share, both under your own switches.

No warranties ("as is")
We provide the apps, the plugin, the bot, the console and the website on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that they will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any information or analysis they produce, including who killed you, where a tracked player is, whether an alarm rings, or any decay timer, is accurate or complete. Facepunch's Rust+ service, Steam and Discord are outside our control, and a feature that depends on one of them stops when it does.
Nothing in these terms removes any statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded under the law of your country of residence.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits, items or in-game progress, arising from your use of or inability to use the product, including any loss caused by a server ban, anti-cheat action, raid or wipe, or by an alarm that did not ring.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date above and, for important changes, give you reasonable notice in the app or on the website. If a change materially affects your paid subscription, we give you notice before your next renewal.
If you keep using the product after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using it and cancel your subscription before the change applies to you.
Termination
You may stop using and uninstall Rust On Top at any time; cancelling your subscription is described above.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we discontinue the service, with notice where reasonably practicable. If we end your access or discontinue the service and you are not at fault, we refund the unused part of any period you have paid for. When access ends, your licence ends and you must stop using the apps. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as the disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law, survive.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection rights of the country where you live. If we cannot resolve a complaint together, you can turn to the consumer dispute body in your country; in Sweden, the National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN).
